Beast of a Burger

Not much happening today so whilst reading a few peoples blogs and seeing what was about and more than anything looking for inspiration, I stumbled upon pornburger.me  Now this guy knows how to assemble a burger and has some pretty radical ideas, now after mopping up the drool I decided to give it go and see what I could do to honor this god of burger stacks.

I sat and thought for a bit, then sat and thought some more,,,,,,,,,, Bingo,I now had in my head an idea of what I was going to do.

Fried Chicken-1-4

Starting from the bottom its a round of homemade bread cut into a round and toasted followed by some salad leaves, soused onion ring, burger patty with melted cheese on top, then its the marinaded tomato, fried egg, Hollandaise sauce then bacon and more Hollandaise sauce then the whole lot topped off with another toasted round of bread.


First things first, I needed a burger patty, that’s easy, a pack of beef mince, a finely chopped onion and a couple of cloves of crushed garlic, and 2 herby sausages (skinned) all mashed together and shaped then put in the fridge to chill and set.

Soused onion, easiest thing in the world to make, cut an onion into heavy rings and cover with malt vinegar and some chopped parsley, and leave for a couple of hours, It takes all the heat out of the onion and leaves it crisp tangy.

marinaded tomatoes, another easy one, cut into heavy slices and cover with olive oil infused with chopped and crushed basil leaves.

all the above was done ahead of time, all that was left to do was the Hollandaise sauce, cook the bacon , the burger patty and assemble it all.


Verdict upon tasting this leviathan of a burger, OMG, perfect in every way It held together very well in the hand and didn’t really fall apart, even when trying to mop up the Hollandaise sauce and associated burger juices.

The tang of the onion bit through any burger or bacon fat that may have been there, and the tomato’s gave a nice texture and gave a hint of sophistication, the Hollandaise sauce was the best i’ve made yet.

Now all I need to do is work on my presentation and photography a bit,,,,,,, nah, sod that, Ill concentrate on bettering that stack.
